Yesterday’s FM Day 2025 conference, hosted by IFMA Greece in collaboration with Boussias Events at OTEAcademy, offered valuable insights into the future of Facility Management (FM) in the age of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The key message? AI can change  FM, but it has to be approached in a guarded and transparent way. While AI is already being applied to critical areas—such as preventive maintenance, cost reduction, and resource optimization—there’s an emerging challenge: overconfidence in AI’s capabilities. Belief that AI will be able to fully replace human capabilities brings strain as FM departments struggle to incorporate it responsibly.

Yet, when leveraged thoughtfully, AI allows Facility Managers to enhance efficiency, optimize building operations, support hybrid work models, and improve product lifecycle monitoring—ultimately offering a better user experience across the board.
